Lisa A. Sigler, APR, President and Owner

Lisa Sigler has more than 22 years of experience in communications, public engagement and issues management. She manages a senior-level team of specialists and personally is involved in all agency accounts. Her personal business goal is to continually surpass client expectations through tangible results and exemplary customer service. Lisa’s work for the extractive industry and manufacturing companies has spanned the world. She has implemented broad scale communications/engagement programs in the U.S., Canada and abroad.

She has extensive experience with active and closed mine sites. During her career, Lisa has worked with Shell Oil Company, ASARCO, Kelsey Lake Diamond Mine, Molycorp Inc., Resurrection Mine, the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum and Newmont Mining Corporation.

On behalf of Newmont mining company, her firm has managed environmental communication/ public involvement for the company’s legacy sites including Resurrection and Idarado mining companies in Colorado, and the Empire Mine in California. Her firm has provided extensive employee communications and external communications support to Newmont Mining’s corporate communications department in addition to concepting, writing and managing production of the company’s corporate social responsibility reports for its mines worldwide for the past four years. The reports highlight the company’s philosophy and performance in community relations, environmental stewardship, worker health and safety, and employee well-being.

Due the firm’s strong understanding of mining, the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum retained the firm to conceive and create a booklet and video to communicate the value of mining and the important role the museum plays in public education to funders, school groups, news media and other target audiences. Lisa’s work on a number of high-profile environmental projects including Molycorp’s Louviers site, Rocky Flats, ASARCO Globe Plant cleanup, Leadville Superfund site, the Redfield site (Brown Shoe Company), United Technologies Corporation, the American Water Works Research Foundation and Metro Wastewater Reclamation District provides her extensive experience in managing complex sites, communicating highly technical information and engaging with a wide variety of stakeholder groups.

Lisa develops strategies that enable companies and organizations to work effectively and productively with neighbors, elected officials, community leaders and other key audiences. She has direct experience in developing the right approach to reaching stakeholders, including multi-ethnic communities, civic and community leaders, legislators, news media, activists/NGOs, the business community and other key audiences.

She is a national speaker on the topic of public involvement at environmental sites. She delivered presentations at the EPA’s RCRA conference and Public Involvement Conference. In the past year, she has been asked to speak to the environmental health and safety managers of General Electric and Texas Instruments on successful environmental programs her firm has implemented involving groundwater contamination and soil vapor intrusion issues.

Prior to starting her own company, she was a vice president at a large public affairs firm in Denver. She supervised a staff of six, managed account servicing, and oversaw budgets totaling $1 million annually. In addition to consulting for public affairs and public relations firms, Lisa handled local and national media relations for The Children’s Hospital in Denver. She managed local and national media relations including proactive and reactive communications. She also handled media for scientific developments, treatment of highly visible patient cases, organizational crisis and program marketing.

Marion M. Galant, Senior Consultant

Marion Galant has more than 17 years’ experience in working with government and the public on environmental issues for the state of Colorado. Her experience includes both Superfund and hazardous waste cleanup sites, speechwriting, media relations and all aspects of stakeholder involvement. She has worked on all 21 of the state’s Superfund sites, including such extractive sites as Vasquez Blvd. & I-70, Captain Jack Mill, Clear Creek/ Central City, Denver Radium Sites, Shattuck Chemical, California Gulch, Lincoln Park/Cotter Mill, Smeltertown, Smuggler Mountain and the Summitville Mine.

She also was the community involvement lead for the state on the Rocky Mountain Arsenal and Rocky Flats, Idarado Mine and ASARCO Globe mining and smelting sites. Hired as the only community involvement specialist in 1990, she retired from full-time work for the state supervising a full-time professional staff of three overseeing environmental cleanup issues statewide.

Her crisis communications experience includes handling media communications for the Stapleton Airport fire and West Nile Virus, and years of continuing involvement with crisis communications for potential disasters such as bioterrorism and bird flu. She has been involved for many years in crisis communications development and preparation for Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant, Fort St. Vrain Nuclear Power Plant, the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, as well as West Nile Virus, bird flu, tornadoes and wild fires.

Charles Montera, Account Manager

Charles Montera has more than 7 years of experience in communications, public engagement and issues management. Prior to joining Sigler Communications in 2000, he had more than 11 years of experience in customer relations, sales and marketing.

He manages several accounts for Sigler Communications including the Resurrection Mining Company, the Redfield site, the American Water Works Association Research Foundation (AwwaRF) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).

He also provides support, primarily through community involvement, writing and media relations for all of Sigler Communications’ extractive industries and manufacturing clients including Newmont Mining Corporation, Idarado Mining Company, Rocky Mountain Steel Mills, United Technologies Corporation and Texas Instruments.

Charles accompanied a representative from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), surveyed and interviewed neighbors near Molycorp’s Louviers Facility in Douglas County, Colorado and helped develop the community involvement plan for this site. He also prepared for briefings with the Highlands Ranch Water District to differentiate Molycorp’s situation from the adjacent Dyno-Nobel site.

He is actively involved with community relations program development and implementation, gathering public input on natural resource, environmental and health care issues, and translating this information into formats that can be easily shared with the community. He has written extensively on complex environmental and health-related issues, and conveyed

Shannon Diederich, Account Manager

With 15 years of experience, Shannon Diederich has developed and implemented comprehensive communications programs for corporations, government agencies and associations. Her objective is to help clients create meaningful and credible relationships with the stakeholders with whom they interact. She prefers to work in collaborative, team environments.

Shannon’s experience working in the environmental and mining industries allows her to provide strategic counsel and implement proven communication strategies that build and strengthen stakeholder relationships. During her career, she has worked with some of the world’s largest oil and gas, mining and manufacturing companies, where she helped develop and implement public participation, community outreach and internal communications programs to identify and close information gaps, as well as enhance and preserve credibility. In addition, she has experience analyzing potential business issues and stakeholder responses that may impact operational success. She monitors news and trends, develops and executes formal and informal surveys, as well as evaluates focus group research to provide more strategic direction to communication programs.

As a skilled writer and editor, Shannon has managed the production of corporate communications collateral materials to engage employees, communities, government agencies, media and other stakeholders. Throughout her career, she has developed fact sheets, newsletters, brochures, presentations, business reports, news releases, feature articles, manuals, case studies and other collateral. She often consults with technical experts, and is adept at taking highly technical and complex subject matter and simplifying it for a lay audience.

Her most recent writing projects include Newmont Mining’s 2006 social responsibility Web site, www.BeyondtheMine.com, as well as Now & Beyond mine site reports. The reports highlight the company’s achievements and challenges in the areas of community relations, environmental stewardship, worker health and safety, and employee well-being. She also writes and edits The Gold Standard, a quarterly employee newsletter reaching nearly 15,000 employees, as well as content for Newmont’s internal communications portal.

For Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), the nation’s second-largest Catholic health system, Diederich has written articles for its monthly employee newsletter and intranet, as well as for affiliated hospitals. She develops materials to educate clinicians and staff about information technology initiatives, and produces CHI’s Annual Information Technology Operating Plan. Diederich recently developed a comprehensive communications toolkit to help incoming executives learn more about CHI’s information technology initiatives.

Lynn A. Noonan, Graphic Design Contractor

Lynn Noonan has more than 17 years of experience in advertising, graphic design and marketing communications. Her priorities for her clients are creating communication and marketing materials that convey the desired message in a quick and easy-to-understand format. She has worked with clients distributing marketing communications throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Lynn has extensive experience with national corporations. During her career, she has worked with Wells Fargo, Chase, ING Direct, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Radio Shack, Western Union, First Data, Qwest, Time Warner and Harley Davidson. She has also worked with smaller companies in the areas of oil and gas mining, healthcare, telecommunications, banking and food packaging.

Lynn’s strong understanding of communications and graphic design helped Western Union open new international markets when the flow of money around the world changed after the events on 9-11. Noonan also helped Qwest keep a national presence as the company transitioned CEOs.

Lynn develops strategic, easy-to-understand communication materials that bridge the gap between the client and the public. The materials are designed to have a strong impact when needed and subtlety when desired. Noonan has experience in reaching people from different countries, cultures and socioeconomic classes.

Prior to starting her own company, Lynn was senior art director at a large advertising agency in Denver. She supervised a staff of five, managed the production for a $2 milliona- year client and worked on developing new business.

Darlene Haber, Web/Video Producer

With a background in broadcast journalism and documentary production, Haber has extensive experience in communicating complex ideas to broad audiences. After leaving network television, she turned her skills toward helping public and private corporations fulfill their communications needs through visual mediums.

Haber founded MediaVision in 1991 as a television and corporate video production facility with an emphasis on understanding corporate sensitivities and being able to respond fully to clients’ needs. As technology advanced, the MediaVisions production team acquired Web and print design skills, contracting with the best new Web site interface programmers to ensure the company has full-service, multi-media production capability.

Haber has broad knowledge of the extractive industry, having worked on three continents for Newmont Mining Corporation in the development and production of corporate videos. Her most recent assignment for Newmont was to design and develop its 2006 Sustainability Report entirely online for the first time. The Web site not only met Newmont’s sustainability reporting requirements, it is visually pleasing and designed with the latest programming interfaces and site management systems, which allow the site to be changed or upgraded easily. Her programmers are constantly working with new and emerging technologies to ensure our clients have the best design and technology options available.

MediaVision has worked with Newmont Mining Corporation for almost 10 years beginning with a video production for the opening of the Batu Hijau mine in Indonesia. Haber has produced numerous videos for Newmont including videos for two of its annual general meetings with special productions for the media.

Her videos have served to inform numerous communities including the public, mine employees, government regulators, elected officials, shareholders, and NGOs in five languages. In Indonesia, her video productions were used to inform elected officials about controversial and sensitive environmental policies and practices, as well as informing the media and public about Newmont’s operations.

Bruce Abels, Creative Director/Branding Specialist

With more than 25 years of experience, award-winning copywriter, creative director and broadcast producer Bruce Abels offers vast expertise in both consumer and business-tobusiness advertising. Over the years, Abels has created and produced hundreds of advertising campaigns, including national campaigns for Denver-based Berger Funds (absorbed by Janus Capital), Chipotle, CIBER and others. In addition, Abels has developed a 10-step naming process to create memorable names for companies, their products, services and processes.

With client experience spanning multiple industries, Abels’ work has garnered dozens of local, regional and national creative awards including a prestigious EFFIE. He provides clients with creative work that strategically meets client goals and objectives in ways that are memorable, persuasive and effective.

Abels has supported Sigler Communications on Catholic Health Initiatives and Exempla Healthcare assisting with advertising, branding and naming, as well as special events.

Damaris Cooksey, Account Coordinator

Cooksey has 18 years of experience providing assistance and support in all phases of public relations program planning and implementation. She offers project coordination and tracking. She assists in public opinion research, database development, media research and placement, in addition to project and budget tracking. She makes sure our clients receive an accurate and clear accounting and tracking of the work we perform and the results we produce.
